International mobility trips are amazing opportunities to combine hands-on science with real-world exploration. During our student exchange to Nový Jičín (Czech Republic) in February 2026, organized as part of the 3T Academy project, partner schools took advantage of being together to build strong environmental synergies with our Green ICT Detectives initiative.
Students really enjoyed this activity.
Investigating Snowy Forests and Underground Life
This winter mobility allowed students to step out of the traditional classroom and study how nature adapts to extreme seasonal conditions:
- Snow-Covered Forest Ecosystems: Students explored local winter woodlands, identifying how native plant and animal species survive the cold, analyzing biodiversity patterns in the snow, and gathering environmental data.
- Exploring the Punkevní Jeskyně Caves: One of the main highlights was an educational expedition to the famous Punkevní Caves (Punkevní jeskyně) and their surrounding natural reserve. Students learned about unique geological formations, underground hydrology, and subterranean ecosystems—including special observations on the local bat populations that hibernate in the cave system!
A Great Synergy Across International Projects
Since many participating students and teachers are actively involved in both 3d Academy and Green ICT Detectives, this mobility created a perfect bridge between both programs.
The outdoor observations in the Czech Republic directly connected with our cross-curricular activities in English and French language classes, giving students a chance to practice technical vocabulary and teamwork while exploring winter ecology. It was an unforgettable experience that proved how working together across borders makes environmental learning much more exciting!
